Just impulsively bought a giant umbrella plant (bargain blinders!!) and realized when it got home that it seems pretty sick. Help! I’m thinking scale on the stems? Powdery mildew on the leaves? What’s causing the leaf deformation/warping?? Help me plant people!!

I think on the stems those bumps are normal for this plant. Do they I’m off when you try to pick at them gently with your nail or an alcohol swab? Scale does love this plant so it can be hard to tell sometimes

I always repot when I get a new plan. I repot fertilize and slap em under my grow light. I’d start there :)

those stem bumps are normal, but do you see any fine webbing or teeny tiny bugs? this looks like spider mites to me… isolate immediately and spray with chemical pesticide: i like captain jacks insecticidal super soap and captain jacks deadbug brew, both found at home depot and lowes. spider mites are almost invisible to the naked eye, and once you see the webs it’s too late. they’re not like spider webs, more like caterpillar silk. you may see little white dots near each other on the wilting leaves, this is the holes they leave when they feed. check ALL of your other plants, sometimes they will live on a plant they don’t like and you won’t see them much but they’ll jump to a plant they like and then you will see them, and they might kill your plants / infest your home forever unless you do something!

Is the webbing fine enough that it just looks like a white coating? Wilted leaves have a black undercoating residue
