Does anyone know what this brown stuff is on the tips of my bromeliad? It just appeared after I was gone for the weekend. I’ve been trying to get this thing to bloom since February but no luck- it still has new leaf growth though so I thought it might just be taking its time? Please help!!

It looks like it’s just the flower, right? If so then maybe the flower has just run its course and is fading. You might find pups soon or might already have because sometimes this is toward the mother plant’s natural life. ***I don’t know if this is true for all bromeliad plants though. But it was my experience and at the time I thought I had done something wrong.

Could this happen if the flower never opened up and bloomed? Thank you for your help!!

Yes. I think so. If you know the variety name you can do an image search of the blooms for that variety to see for sure if your blooms did their full showing or if they might have faded out before they were really done. Bromeliads are so beautiful. I hope my next one is younger next time so I can get to see and understand more about them.
