What is this orange goo that keeps growing back on my plant?! I pulled off a chunk of this thick gooey stuff when I brought this home and repotted it, and I noticed a week later it has grown back! Is this a type of slime mold? Is it harmful?

What type of plant is it? Have you looked up to see if it produces sap?

I believe it is an alocasia portei (elephant ear megaladon)? I couldn’t find any information regarding sap that’s produced in thick chunks like this

No idea, I only brought it home recently. Is this a normal response to injury? Or maybe an infection?

If it’s an injury then yes sap is like blood there for it’s like a scab

It looks like a split leaf philodendron. I had one but have never seen the goo

I agree. It looks like a thaumatophyllum but no clue as to the goo

This definitely looks like the one! I thought it may be an alocasia portei but it looks more likely to be a split leaf Philo .. I just can’t seem to find anything online about this mystery goo.

Yeah I have a split leaf and haven’t seen that either! I would dig around in that area to see what you see. If there’s an injury or any sign of marking on the actual plant itself or maybe there’s something else in the soil…?
