So after the information received here about my poor parlor palm, I was determined to save her despite the permanent damage that she has as a result of what is believed to have been thrips. I didn’t find any signs of them, which may be because a couple of weeks ago I cleaned all the soil on my plants and the leaves on my two palms to eradicate the fungus gnats. Sadly, I believe the damage was already done. Yesterday I cleaned the leaves and stalks with gentle soap and water. Rinsed her off real good, including the roots. I removed any dead stalks that were hard or no longer had the roots attached and a couple of severely damaged leaves. To my surprise I found that there are two new stalks sprouting. She wants to live and appears to be rewarding my efforts to save her with new growth. I am proud to say that while she may be thinned out a bit, I think she is already showing promise. Thank you for the information on what was plaguing her. I’m so glad I found this community to share my love of plants and propagating with. The first, fifth and sixth photos are the ones I posted the other day. The second, third and fourth are from today. Sorry, I couldn’t choose what order the pictures showed in.

Thank you. I just couldn’t give up. Kind of like the ugly duckling story. I suspect she will grow into a beautiful swan eventually, but for now she’s my beautiful story.
