Hey all! My polka dot plant has been growing like crazy since I put it closer to a window. I didn’t cut back the leaves because I wanted to see how tall it would get.. (pretty tall!) but now the plant has white flowers popping up. I heard this could mean it’s the end. Is there anyway to save? Would cutting and propagating help?

She’s beautiful. In my experience, she’s not gonna die. Mine flowered and is still alive and well (I tell myself it means she’s happy). I would totally recommend pruning tho. They branch out beautifully ;)

Well that’s a relief to hear! Did you cut off the flowers?

I did not! I let them be and removed them once they wilted :)

What they say is once the polka dot plant has finished flowering the flowers turn to seeds and then the polka dot plants begins to die. So, it’s recommended to remove the flowers as soon as you notice them so the polka dot plant can focus its energy on growing more leaves instead. Frequently pruning your polka dot plant helps to prevent flowering because it keeps the stems short and promotes it to keep getting bushier. 😁 Quite magnificently beautiful little plants they are.. but I’ll be honest, I learned the hard way with them and have sadly unalived more than I’d like to admit because, like you, i didn’t prune at first and thought it was so exciting to see how quickly it was growing. And then one day she was just dead. It sent me down this crazy rabbit hole on what I did wrong. Lol. Hope that helped and wasn’t way too in depth. Lol.
