So I’ve had my first encounter with mealybugs. Found them yesterday on my Hoya and now on my Alocasia. All the other plants in the vicinity seem to be okay. I’ve treated both with insecticidal soap. Any other suggestions to help kill them? I’ve used a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution for gnat flies before. Anyone have success using it on mealybugs as well?

Rubbing alcohol kills them on contact. Moisten a cotton swab and rub in the crooks and crannies. If you haven’t already, quarantine the two infected plants. And because I am extra paranoid, I would treat any plants they touched with insecticidal soap. Good luck!

I think Planta even says something about cleaning the wall and surroundings where they were

If I’m not mistaken, male mature mealies can fly. I’d take dry it away from any other plants…

I had mealies on a Hindi rope. I treated it for WEEKS with cotton swabs, neem, and systemic. Someone in a local plant group recommended I spray it with a 50-50 water/isopropyl mist. Haven’t seen the little buggers since. The other remedies should do for your Alocasia…

I don’t think I sprayed it with the 50/50 more than twice

Did you just lightly mist it or soak it pretty good when you sprayed it?
