My boyfriend gifted me this honeysuckle plant to attract hummingbirds… | Pests, diseases and problems 🇺🇸 | Planta-Community

My boyfriend gifted me this honeysuckle plant to attract hummingbirds but once I repotted her from the nursery pot she started to rapidly die. I gave her some fertilizer and it seems like it helped but it still isn’t getting better. Any tips?

You gave her far too big of a pot. Put her in a pot that will fit her snugly will a little room for new roots to grow and she’ll take off!

Usually keep plants in their nursery pots. Otherwise the soil will stay wet and the plant will start to suffer root rot

That’s a REALLY big pot to go to from the nursery pot. If she was in a 4 in pot, I would put her in a pot about 1-2 inches bigger than her root ball. So it should be no more than a 6 in pot, but you’ll most likely keep her in a 4 in or upsize her to a 5 in. If the pot is too large, the plant doesn’t have enough roots to soak up all the water and will essentially be in standing water, causing root rot quickly. I’d downsize her pot as soon as you can!
