So I just recently had a very severe under watering problem with my bonsai tree… it has gotten so much better on the past 2 days…. But basically all the leaves have fallen off of the tree. What’s going on?

under water is not under fertilised; all of the leaves are now damaged from under watering and only the new leaves will look good. just maintain a regular watering schedule, make sure it’s not too wet, and be patient!!!

plants should never be fertilised while they’re under watered or sick, a lack of fertiliser will rarely ever kill a plant

Exactly right ⬆️. If the temperature is warmer now it’s summer, your bonsai will probably need a different watering schedule because they have small, shallow pots that warm up easily so the moisture evaporates. One of mine currently needs watering twice a day, but just a little bit each time. I can’t see on the photo what kind of potting mix she’s in, but if it’s akadama, she’ll be losing water quickly in the warm months. I use a moisture meter with my crew because otherwise I’m lost.

Oh no! So sad! 😞 I’ve never had a bonsai, but I know they require a lot of care and grow slowly, so that is heartbreaking. I hope he bounces back!
