One of my ficus has had this since I got her about a year ago. It hasn’t sprouted any new leaves and I feel like it’s because this little piece got stuck or never finished growing. Should I cut it off? Is there anything I can do for it? She otherwise very healthy, she’s been repotted (about 4 months ago?), and doesn’t show any signs of root rot.

it might not be getting enough sun.. don’t cut it off!! that’s where a new leaf would come out of! there might be a dry papery sheath that you can take off, but that should slip off easily. sometimes the variegated ones grow slower, just make sure it has enough water and sunlight and it is healthy! fig trees slow down after a while, maybe it needs a little fertiliser boost?
