My Peperomia Clusiifolia (Jelly Plant) has been dropping leaves for some time. They seem healthy and okay and then it looks as if the connecting part gets rotten and the leaf falls out of the plant. There’s some dark spots on the leaves, but I thought it’s always had it or is just dust. Could it be something else? I can’t see them moving or anything. There was a small spider on it once, but it’s been eliminated. No bugs seen on it since. What is the problem and what do i do with it?

This has happened to me with a peperomia but on a larger scale - essentially the major branches folded and got soggy at the bottom of the plant! I cut the dead part off and put them in water to re-root, then planted them again. I think my problem was not having drainage 😬 oops

it has drainage in the pot and it’s standing on a couple pebbles 😭 dr planta also said underwatering but ah what are the black spots then! i was thinking thrips

do they wipe off, they might literally be dirt spots. it could be the rot too

the black dots - no but i saw moving white sticks, so i’m assuming thrips. idk if they cause the black spots though

Thrips can be white in their younger stage and turn black when they become adults. Maybe try wiping the leaves with neem oil and seeing what returns? It’s possible it could have multiple issues too 🥲😬 sorry

That looks A LOT like spider mites. It’s hard to tell from the pictures. If there’s fine webbing under the leaves and at the nodes then it’s safe to assume that they’re spider mites. As a precaution I would most definitely take a paper towel and douse it in isopropyl alcohol and wipe the leaves off thoroughly. Then when you’re done give it a good spray with neem oil.

Also spider mites are so tiny. Those little dots look like them and you can’t see them move very often.

I ran it through water under the shower and it lost 4 leaves again.. the black dots didn’t disappear even though i carefully rubbed the leaves. wouldn’t they go with the water? it’s generally not something i can remove. nothing is moving as well! don’t see any webs too, but some neem oil won’t hurt will it

are spider mites removable physically? because i can’t remove them. update though: there are those white little sticks on top of every surface as well and i actually saw them moving, i’m thinking it’s thrips. but could the black dots be their fault? or are spider mites also on the plant

This happened to mine too. I’m pretty sure it’s thrips 🤬

Those black spots look like swelling. It’s caused by too much watering. (Make sure your watering it sparingly in the winter, and water when potting mix drys out.

oh that’d explain the falling leaves as well
