Super excited to have been gifted with this Peperomia. She’s in a west facing bathroom window. The window has privacy film so it’s indirect light. She’s very damp and I don’t think she needs to be repotted right now. I want to be proactive to avoid problems - all advice is appreciated!

How damp is very damp? If the soil is soggy, it might be helpful to replace some of it with drier substrate. I’ve brought home super-soggy peperomia (overwatered at the store) and found they don’t always recover easily. The good news is that they are incredibly easy to propagate!

She’s looking good! I 100% agree with the other comment- if the soil is soggy change some of it to drier soil. A good rule of thumb with peperomias is to let the soil completely dry out between watering. They have succulent leaves that keep them going without water for longer (which is why they are more sensitive to overwatering then under watering). I’d also make sure there is good drainage in its current pot. Good luck! They are fun plants (I have two myself!)

Thanks Erica and Saarah, I will take that advice and replace some of the soil.

Honestly, you can even take a tea towel and pull out the plant and wrap the towel around the soil to soak up the extra moisture without having to mess around with the roots and substrate and further shock the plant after being moved to a new environment. Nick Alexander has a YouTube video on doing this that I’ve found helpful when Im still trying to acclimate a new plant but it’s sopping wet from the store lol

She’s been repotted. Did not disturb the root ball but mixed existing soil with some orchid mix for better drainage. Several leaves came off because they were damaged from transport but I think she will do well.
