My octopus plant has lost its deep green. The leaves are a bit paler and more droopy. The plant just seems a little weaker than it was. I recently repotted to try and help it, and the roots are crazy shallow. So much so it can’t even hold itself upright. I had to use twine to prop it up. Is this normal for an octopus plant? Is there a way to stimulate root growth?

How did the roots look when you repotted?

Just a note, I had a situation with my Calamansi tree early spring. It’s leaves were lacking it’s luster and knew I had overwatered it while indoors over the winter so the root system became half the size of its nursery pot. What I did to help it was size down and repot into a smaller clay pot and it’s now thriving outdoors for the season.

You can support it by giving it bamboo sticks an tie it up against. It might need support until the roots has grown deeper into the soil. One thing you can do to help the roots to grow deeper is by letting it dry out a bit extra (but not bone dry) before you water it. And when you water it, make sure you give it enough to saturated all the way through the pot. You might also consider moving your plant to a brighter spot to help it perk back up ☺️
