Help! Just noticed these little pests in the soil of my dieffenbachia. What are they and what should be done to get rid of them? Thank you

I had them in my Swiss cheese plant not too long ago. They’re harmless, but you can repot if they bother you.

Yes true. I can see how some might be weirded out if it was indoors, not assuming anything. However, if they are naturally attracted, I believe they will most certainly reproduce unless extra effort is taken to kill them off.
1 LikeI don’t mind them personally, I just want to keep the plant safe as well as the others in my house. Should I be worried about them making their way to my other plants? I’m hoping they’re harmless, I’ve never dealt with pests before. Thanks for the info y’all!

Yes np, I’m no pro I can only share from my own experience and we’re learning together, yes. Almost all my plants are outdoors so your experience might be different. In my outdoor container garden, centipedes are all about it and I pay them no attention. Honestly, a caterpillar gives me more grief lol. I would just keep an eye out for infestation in which case I would definitely repot with fresh soil taking it all the way to clean roots. I just read that if the centipedes become a real problem, there could “possibly” be an underlying issue. But again, If your plants are thriving and no signs of other pests and disease, don’t stress. And if you feel like you want to control the centipedes with product, go for it!

Look up garden symphylans. I’m pretty sure that’s what you have there. They feast on roots so best look up how to get rid of them!
