These once bountiful Pothos plants have struggled since moving 5 times through various light and air conditions—) in the pandemic era. Since moving a month ago they’re especially upset. Any idea on how to help them now? 2 years ago they went from extremely bright light to very minimal light. With this last move there’s slightly better (but still north facing) light but worse air quality, which manifests on their leaves as a thick film of dust. They were repotted from plastic to terra cotta around a year ago. The first photo is current; the second photo from 2020.

I would get them a grow light and trim them down so they can give energy to new growth. How’s the soil?

Thank you! These are helpful reminders. I’d been trimming them periodically for the last 2 years, and they’ve not bounced back really. It’s true that they were happier with a grow light; I’ll try that again. The soil is a bit on the dry side. Maybe they need fertilizer?

pothos love fertilizer. and i’d say try putting them in indirect sunlight outside for a few hours a day. that’s helped my pothos tremendously

Cut and propagate the vines, new soil, follow planta advice 👍 it will take time but you can bring them back to life. They’re a hardy plant.

I agree with the chop and prop. When mine start to look a little bald, I root some cuttings and pop them back into the pot. It’s kinda like hair plugs!

You said the soil is dry, which could be a problem. Most plants need some water in their soil to survive. Pothos don’t like to be too wet but they don’t like to go completely dry either. Maybe try watering them more often, before they get completely dry? I wouldn’t recommend the terra-cotta pots unless you are watering often because they draw the moisture from the soil and it evaporates quickly. All the previous advice is great advice! Good luck!!

If the weather is nice I would recommend putting them outside in a covered area out of direct sun. They’ll grow a lot faster than indoors.
