Hi guys! Quick question. I have a small pothos in a plastic 6 in pot sitting on a shelf by a north facing window—I also have Haus grow lights set up. It was being watered every 10-12 days and getting some yellow leaves so I had my mother in law (she’s taking care of my plants since I’m out of state) start watering every 12-14 days thinking it was maybe being overwatered. It’s still getting yellow leaves, she said she had to pull off a bunch of yellow leaves the other day and they were soft. Could this still be getting overwatered?? Or is this due to under watering. Please help 🙏🏽

Are you waiting for the soil to dry out a bit before watering again? If not, it’s likely still being overwatered.

Tbh I’m not too sure since my mother in law is watching my plants for me at the moment; I’ve told her how to check the soil (using finger and/or chop stick) but not sure if the soil is still moist when she waters.

I had a similar issue with my pothos, saw a yt video and they said if its the older leaves dying and yellowing then its underwatered. I started watering more frequently and now theyve stopped yellowing :)

Thank you for your reply! It’s a little hard to tell which ones are the older ones now since this was a bunch of propagations I put together in a pot.

It seems like it’s being overwatered. Plants don’t care to be watered on a schedule of x-amount of days. Pothos can be pushed a little to the drier side and be ok. 💚

I totally agree!! I try to follow what planta suggests, but sometimes I skip it and wait a couple days and I just mark down how many days it’s been to see if there’s a trend. I’m going to try waiting longer between watering and see if that helps. Thank you!
