So I bought this from the discount section at Lowe’s today. I liked the pot and thought I’d see if I could save the plant (anthurium, I think? 🤔). But I’m not sure where to start. Should I water it & see how it looks in a couple days? Then decide how/if to chop? 🤔🤔🤔

I would change the soil and put into a bigger pot, then wait a few days to water it, to reduce stress. I would also look for pets while doing the repotting process, and if all is clear, you just got a good deal! And if not, I would try to find a good leave or two and propagate it if it begins to look hopeless.

But it’s soooo dry. You sure I shouldn’t water it when I repot? 🤔

I would give it a good soak in water first, then follow those instructions. The idea of not watering for a day or two after repotting allows any damage on the roots to callous, rather than allowing bacteria to thrive in a damp environment. I would follow this advice after removing all the soil, cutting any dead dry or mushy roots 👍 have fun!! Rehabbing plants is so rewarding!

Looks very dry, I would repot with new soil (Lowe’s uses very poor quality soil) and water right after.

⬆️ I agree. But no fertilizer for a bit.

Poor thing! I would definitely water after repotting. Also trim off the dead leaves too. I hope she makes it!
