i have this alocasia dark star, and it will never host more than three leaves. the eldest of the three leaves always quickly yellows and sags just after itās pushed out a new leaf. even if i prop the leaf up, it always dies eventually. iāve lost a total of about 5-6 leaves so far and just canāt get more than two healthy leaves at once. what is going on!?!?
I had this problem with a grey dragon until I got my ikea cabinet so I think it might be because of humidity being too low for the plan but just a guess š¤·š¼āāļø

Alocasias are known for the dropping a leaf after growing a new one. So itās totally normal. The only way to propagate them is through their corms. So water propping a leaf wonāt work ā¹ļø
2 Likes i have the whole plant with roots in the water and it seems to be doing alright. i took it out of dirt because i thought that might solve the leaf dropping problem but i had no luck. they just seem to get too heavy for the plant to hold up so they drop

3 Likes when it was in dirt i watered with all purpose fertilizer on plantaās schedule. since itās been in water (a month or so) i havenāt fertilized. I had the leaf dropping problem both in the soil and in the water.
