Left the plant (Gloria) with my fiancée’s mother because she offered to repot it while I was at work. I came by a few days later and the plant was on the ground and was in the condition pictures below. Previously the plant was rooted in essentially a straight line, now there’s a massive gap through the middle with what looks like exposed roots. Just wondering what may have happened and if it’s possible to remedy the problem.

  1. Hiya!

Well I’m no expert…but I’m guessing she tried to pot it so the vines would drape around the pot on all sides but was limited by the plant volume thus a void in the middle. Coupled with wrangling the roots. I would cover those roots with potting soil a bit. The plant leaves curling indicates it’s stressed. If they were curled before maybe repotting it set it back further. I’d just focus on giving it the appropriate water/light it needs and not mess with it much more until it returns to full health. Once it’s growing vines and looking healthy…I’d think about propagating a new vine or two to fill it in. Or buy a small plant and help fill it in sooner.

Thank you so much. That’s a big help.
