Can anyone tell me what’s going on with my peace Lily? I can’t find a similar image anywhere and I’m not sure what this is. I got this plant discounted about 6 months ago. I recovered it but it has brown spots and brown/yellow edges. It’s flowered twice and new leaves are coming in. The flowers look great, the new leaves have brown tips. I have really hard water here and didn’t realize until a new treubii moonlight died. Could that cause these odd speckles?

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with your peace lily. 😞 This article might help if you Google it: 15 Common Problems With Peace Lilies.

Thanks for the response! I just read the article and I can’t find the part where it talks about this speckling. Where in the article is it?

Totally get that this can be tricky! This can be caused by many reasons and I would double check the soil (so it’s not wet/soggy/smelly OR too dry), make sure the fertilizer is suited for it and that it’s getting the right amount since both too little and too much can cause brown leaf tips. I would then recommend trying to raise the humidity around it: placing it on a tray with water and pebbles or close to an humidifier 😃 so it might need some investigation but I have high hopes it will make it through! 😃

The speckles aren’t dry feeling or any texture for that matter. They’re completely flush and almost pretty like. The brown tips aren’t what I am confused by as much as these speckles in particular. Maybe they’re just a normal thing and I never noticed them?

No I wouldn’t say that the speckles are normal but that they can be caused of the reasons above (such as the brown tips) 😃 so I would still recommend checking the soil, fertilizer and humidity 😃

thank you! Upon new inspection, I noticed new leaves 🍃 are growing in deformed, the old and new leaves have black tips, and when I pulled the inner pot out I noticed soil had fallen in between the inner and outer pot, compacting against the drainage holes. She’s been suffocating. I believe she might be root rotting 🥺 going to repot her this morning. I have had Covid and lost my smell and taste, but this morning I was able to perceive a weird shadow smell there.. possibly? I have some coarse orchid mix here. Should I mix that into another medium like peat moss/perlite ? Following a root rot guide
