This is my grandmother’s peace lily. I’m not there, so I can’t inspect in person, and I don’t have any peace lilies, so I don’t really know them that well anyway. She’s had this for decades, but just repotted it last summer. Ever since, it has not been doing well. Any suggestions?

It looks like your grandmother’s peace lily is having root issues and something is giving it overwatering related symptoms. Maybe the pot was a bit too big, or the soil too compact. It might also be that it’s just a bit overwatered. I would recommend that she repot it once again. Trim out dead roots and plants, prune back dead leaves and provide it with a smaller pot that has good drainage ability.

Peace Lilly is a diva. From my experience, it likes moisture in the soil, so a soil that retains water will be great. It does best in low/ medium indirect light. I kept mine in a room with north facing window. Consistency in watering keeps it happy. It will droop its leaves when thirsty. Good luck.

My peace lily looks like that when she is thirsty. And definitely a soil that retains water would most certainly help.
