Hi! My peace lily has me perplexed and I'm hoping someone can help me, please. Since she's been in 'flower' she seems to be more thirsty in that every 3 to 4 days she starts drooping, classic sign of dehydration, right? But I didn't think it should be that often. So despite what Planta says, I'll give her a little drink and she perks back up again within a couple of hours. Today she has drooped again, I've felt the soil and it is dry but am I right in saying, this and a few other yellow leaves suggest overwatering, not underwatering? The leaves feel soft too. Does anyone know what my dramatic plant is trying to tell me?

it could be getting too much light and drying the soil too soon, maybe try moving it to a little bit of a shadier location and see how that effects the soil. are you watering it until the water is coming from the drainage holes? i have one as well and it’s so dramatic when it comes to being watered, but i just cut the yellowing leaves as they come and put it farther from my window and i’ve started seeing new flower growth. it seems to be happy where it is so i don’t think too much of the leaves.

It's been in the same position for 3 years and this is the first year it's flowered. It's in a fairly bright location but not in direct sun. Yes, I water it from the top until it drains out the bottom, then make sure the tray is emptied of any excess water. Occasionally, I'll bottom water it, but again I make sure it's not sitting in water. I'm beginning to wonder if it could be older leaves that are yellowing. But like you say, the soil is definitely drying too quickly. It's Autumn here now but not cold enough for the heating to be on, so it's not that. I watered her again a couple of hours ago as the soil was dry (was only watered 3 days ago) and now she's looking more perky and proud again. You can see one of the yellowing leaves here.

The yellowing looking part on the right hand side is an older flower which I'm assuming turn green when they're finishing?

What about the root situation. Maybe a pot full of roots.

Hmm good point. I'll have to check the roots properly when it's finished flowering. There are a couple coming out the bottom of the pot. Could explain why it's not retaining water for long. Thank you.

Phil, you were right, thank you! I repotted her a week ago now. She was pretty pot bound and since repotting and watering, she hasn't drooped to signal being thirsty since then. So it looks like we're back on schedule with no more yellowing leaves 😊
