Hello all! I am trying a pothos for the second time due to my last one dying a slow miserable death. Now I’m starting to experience the same trends as my last one. I watered the plant yesterday as well as attaching the moss pole. The bottoms leaves are turning yellow and the bottom half of the plant the leaves are still droopy. The best light I can give it is partial sun partial shade. I did have it hanging but the room it was hanging doesn’t insulate well so at night it gets super cold. I moved it to another room to where it must sit on a table. Can anyone give me some inside knowledge as to what I may be doing wrong?

Water only when the soil is completely dry. The yellowing without crispy tips could be overwatering. Try bottom watering by placing the plant in a container with an inch of water. Remove when the top soil is evenly moist. Then, fully drain the water to avoid root rot. Don’t leave standing water in the drainage tray. Add a grow light about one foot from the plant. Low light can cause a slow death from yellowing and drooping. It can lead to overwatering if only using a watering schedule without checking the soil is completely dry. Plants in insufficient light use less water. The excess water causes root rot by suffocating the roots. Try a named brand like Soltech or Barrina that get many good reviews. They tend to cost more on average. But, it’s cheaper than replacing plants every season. The typical Amazon lights tend to be to low in lumens. 🪴🍀

So I do only water when it is completely dried out. I will add a grow light though to see if that helps.

The only change that has happened is moving to another room, so I am going to say it’s insufficient light

Based on your plant size, unless it has a gigantic rootball, this appears to be too big of a pot. Which can lead to root rot. If that can give you perspective, here is mine in a 12.5cm pot ( I see yours is at almost 18. ) (sorry for the lower light, my grow light just turned off so I turned on the light strip)

The roots were extensive. I received a cutting from someone who I guess had it in water for a long time and had it in a large pot with a bunch of other plants in an arrangement. The roots would circle the circumference of the pot multiple times… that was three months ago so I am assuming the roots are probably longer or more so now but I haven’t checked the roots.

I only water when the soil is completely and absolutely dry. So I’m going to assume it isn’t root rot. New leaves keep forming as well.

I was only saying because of the way the leaves are curling, it is leading me to believe the issue is root rot. Basically, the lack of roots due to rot cause the plant to not absorb water which makes it wilt. If it were mine, I would take a look at those and give it a sniff. My plant as been in the same size pot for a year and there is actually 4 plants in it

If watering only when completely dry, you could be still dealing with rot. The roots dry out and when rehydrated, they are no longer able to take on the water and they simply rot.
