Hello everybody, this is my wonderful monstera. But today I was watering it and discovered this weird type of fungus in the soil. I immediately stopped watering it and it actually looks like tiny mushrooms. Any suggestions on how to help the monstera and get rid of the mould?

    I had the same problem!! I had it happen twice!! Once the mushrooms were white and once they were brown, I scraped off the top couple layers and used Captain Jack’s neen oil with the fungicide in it, I’m sure any brand is fine, and I watered my plants so that they were not saturated and that was a huge help!! Do you have little fungus gnats as well?

    Mushrooms are not necessarily a problem and can indicate nutrients in the soil. This being a monstera though, it makes me wonder whether it has enough drainage? Monsteras like a pretty free draining soil so it doesn’t trap water by their roots, if there’s enough moisture for mushrooms to grow, you might want to add some perlite and/or orchid bark to help it drain faster. Your leaves look happy though, so maybe it’s completely fine! 😅

    I had mushrooms growing with my ficus for a while when I didn't add enough drainage to the soil mix. I left the mushrooms alone and made sure the soil was completely dry before watering again. Usually the mushrooms died back by the time the plant needed watered, so I would mix them into the soil. The plant was only in that mix for a few months before I repotted with extra drainage, but I didn't notice any problems other than possibly slower growth
