How do I keep aphids off of my purple passion? 🫠 I’ve had it in quarantine for longer than I can remember (months), spray it with need oil once a week. I’ve completely unpotted it, dunked it in water and painstakingly removed any aphids from the leaves and stems before repotting it (a couple weeks ago) ,and then there were more aphids maybe two days later, so I’m back to spraying neem oil on it once a week.

You’ll have to probably put in a lot of effort and do multiple different approaches since nothing else has worked so far. If this was me I’d get rid of all the adult aphids that are there now again. You can use a toothbrush to manually get them off (be gentle or it can wreck the leaves). After that I’d spray the leaves with a pesticide containing alcohol or I’m a big fan of Paige Tailyn’s homemade pesticide and leaf cleaner. She has a video about it on TikTok that was posted on 2024-7-15 if you want to check it out. When I’m dealing with an active infestation I usually risk it and add more rubbing alcohol to the mixture but be warned that it can damage the leaves and the plant itself. I’d do this every couple of days and replace the top inch or two of soil when the infestation has died down slightly. Another option if you are really invested in its survival is finding/purchasing ladybugs or other natural predators. If these don’t work it might unfortunately be a lost cause. Hope this helps!
