My ponytail palm’s leaves have been browning and drying on the ends so I try and cut them but they still turn brown after. The leaves used to be so long and healthy (photo with a lamp). I was thinking maybe I overwatered it a few weeks ago. Any advice?

What kind of light does it get? They need a lot of light.

It used to be farther from the light source of my apartment. I just moved it near a window and hopefully that helps. It now gets indirect sunlight most of the day and direct sunlight for a few hours in the afternoon.

I have one ponytail as well. I use Planta to tell me when to water it. I am getting some of the same brown starting at the tip of the lead. I have sitting near my sliding glass door. Planta does not tell me to water it very often. I also use the Jobe stick fertilizer. I still have a ton of leaves. Maybe more sun?

Thank you! I moved it where it would get more sunlight. Planta used to tell me to water it more often than I think it needed to be watered, so I snoozed the reminder more often. Now, I think it has adjusted and I just monitor the soil closely before I water them.

Let me know how it goes. Planta rarely tells me to water mine. I wonder why?

I’ve had one for years outside in full direct sunlight in the mornings and half sun half shade the rest of the day. It can live in all day full sunlight. Get a grow light or place in a south facing window. The trunk stores water. Water and fertilize when the soil is mostly or completely dry. 🪴🍀
