I think I made the mistake and potting this in water even tho internet said it would be fine. Anyway, the roots keep rotting so I’ve been removing more and more each week. I really don’t want to kill her :( any tips? Should I pot in leca or back to soil? She hasn’t grown a single leaf since the day of got her two weeks ago.

These absolutely can live in water. If you moved it from soil to water then it’s normal to lose those roots. Water and soil roots are different. It should start to generate new water roots soon. I’d just be patient. The lack of new leaves is due to it adjusting to its new environment. It won’t put out new growth until its fully made the shift. Once it’s established its new root system make sure to add diluted fertilizer to the water to keep it happy.

Thank you that’s what I thought too but was having low hopes today for some reason

Is this a pothos pearls & jade? It’s hard for me to tell. I have a marbled pothos in water rn and having a similar issue, although it started as a cutting (and just haven’t progressed much beyond longer roots). I’m thinking of repotting it in soil soon. They just seem to grow better that way unfortunately 😭

I would have to agree about doing better in soil. Have you added fertilizer to your water? Mine do a lot better when I add diluted fert to the water every time I change it.
