Does anyone know why my Thanksgiving cactus looks like this? I changed the soil because she was rotted and now she still looks like this after a month of being repotted.

I am not a cacti person⦠but hereās what i see. I love the terracotta pot for cacti/succulents. It wicks moisture out of the soil so it doesnāt sit in water for too long. You soil does look a little dry and could use a watering. Remember when you water to fully drown the plant. Overwatering doesnāt mean volume of water given, itās how often you give it (before soil moisture is low enough ). Your pot size is too big for you cacti in my view. Your pot diameter should be 1-2ā wider than the base of your plant. Iād go down half of what you have. Especially since you said your plant had root rot. The roots are barely using any of the pot so itās likely wet for longer than it needs and gets so much water volume in the pot that it will cause root. Also check soil and make sure itās chunky enough. Consider mixing orchid bark and extra perlite to ensure your soil is porous. The three big things to think of is light, water and soil. So check out your species preferences and modify to the care preferences. Hope this helps!

Thank you SOOO much. I will change the pot. The soil is very chunky and I always add extra perlite and sand, but this time is just not cooperating. Thank you SOOO much for the advicešš¾
1 gillaOooooh I would look into sand. Sand I thought is so small in granules that it actually hinders the porous soil. I could be so wrong because I have tropical not cacti!

I will do so. Thank you sooo much
0 gillningarHoliday cacti are tropical species. They like water as often as a regular houseplant and don't need as much drainage as standard cacti. Yours is super thirsty

Thank you sooo much. She was super healthy, I over watered her and she was on a smaller pot for almost 5 years, so when I went back to my office the next week she looked like this. I repoted her, waited 2 weeks and watered her again, but she has not go back to her normal self, she continue to look like thisš
1 gillaI put mine in my space that has a humidifier and within a week it perked up like I have never seen it before. Definitely need to care for it as you would other typical tropical plants.
