I noticed these weird whitish gray bumps on my cactus, I thought it was some kind of pest or something caused by a pest, I picked a few off and they didn’t move but the photo looks quite like some kind of pest. But I have no idea what it is and how to treat it.

Yeah, I agree or it might be Spider mites I haven’t really seen with Spider mites but I don’t know if that’s them but yeah, I would definitely get pest spray. Soak them in there spray them with it.

      Does Neem oil work?

I wouldn’t say spider mites. They look pretty different and there would be tiny webbing and they are difficult to spot. Looks like mealy bugs, larger and cotton-like.

I haven’t had luck with neem oil but an insecticidal soap, systemic, and isopropyl alcohol all work well for mealy bois. I personally spray the isopropyl on when dealing with mealy bugs because they are easy to miss but people don’t particularly like that. Idk, my boss has a degree in horticulture, she does it, I do it, it works lol 🤷‍♀️

You might want to quarantine that plant after you do it so that way your other plants don’t get spider mites or whatever that it is on them or you might want to do the same thing putting neem oil them but either works. I’m just saying for my experience with that.

Oh no! It’s mealybug. You can spray them directly with 70% alcohol and squish them with a q tip. Treat the rest of the plant with insecticidal soap. Keep treating because they are tough to get rid of. Clean around the pot too because they like to form cocoons almost anywhere on and around the plant.

Mealybugs! You can see their little bodies if you zoom in on the photo. Tanya has good tips in the post above 👆🏻

When I had mealy bugs I used rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to kill them. And a spray the plant with them.
