Hi, I’m not sure what this is that is killing my flat leaf parsley. You can’t see these with the naked eye, have left scarring on the leaves and tiny black spots on the underside. The spots and bug are at 100x magnification. Any ideas?

Spider mites? Since you said you can’t see them with the naked eye that’s what I’m assuming. I think the black spots are a separate issue & I’m not sure what that would be. Possibly a fungal infection from overwatering, poor drainage, &/or poor air circulation.
0 LikesIs it thrips? They tend to lay eggs inside of the leaf causing leaf damage. I would quarantine your plant to avoid spreading it and look into either predatory mites (beneficials) or Bonide Systemic granules.
1 LikeIt’s definitely thrips 👎🏻 the black spots are its poop. These spread quickly, so if it has other plants around I would treat them all to ensure you get rid of them. Use a strong insecticide spray that has thrips listed on the bottle. Spray every 5-7 days for at least 21 days. Add a decent layer of diatomaceous earth to the top of your soil to deal with the larvae that drop down out of the leaves.
1 LikeThank you!! Will pick up some spray today!
0 LikesYes that is thrips. For something you’re going to eat I am not sure I would want to spray with insecticide. Thrips spread like wildfire I would probably just throw this away. Quarantine and treat anything that was nearby.
