Help, please! I’m a brand new plant parent and am so overwhelmed. My money tree has fungus gnats that I can’t get to go away, but now I just checked on my monstera adansonii and my neon pothos and they both have stems that are turning brown and crispy, and my pothos has brown spots and holes in the some of the leaves. I’m looking over it thoroughly and not SEEING any bugs - on a few leaves there were tiny tiny black dots that I swiped over and smooshed and they seemed like they were just dirt, but I am so confused. I’ve only watered them when the soil has been totally dry, so I don’t know if over watering is a thing, maybe I’m under watering? Do I have pests that I can’t see? Stressed out, hahaha!

Can’t help with your plants, but nice rings and nail polish.

I would invest in some neem oil to deter any possible pests, and get some gnat traps! You can get them off of amazon, they go right in the dirt and work wonders.

I do have neem and the little butterfly sticky traps! My money tree is quarantined, and I actually just watered with mosquito bits today. It’s frustrating me to no end. But I don’t have any gnats in any of my other plants in the house (including these). I took them down just now and really inspected and there is just no evidence of bugs at all, so I’m stumped. The soil was entirely dry so I just watered them with the leftover mosquito bits water so hopefully that will act as a preventative just in case.

Sounds like you’re doing everything right! I fought them all last summer and they suck to get rid of unfortunately lol

✨pinguiculas✨ eat fungus gnats. They are carnivorous plants and require RO or distilled water. Long spagnum and perlite 50/50 mix. Bugs and pests also don’t like peppermint, orange, or cinnamon. Good luck! :)

I believe the brown crunchy bits on your monstera stems are old leaf sheaths that are drying out. This happens to my monsteras & Pothos & doesn’t seem to bother the plants. Sometimes I gently remove them if they start to drive me crazy. I also use mosquito dunks in my watering can during the spring/summer when fungus knats start to become a whole thing. Nasty little things 😅

Put these in the top soil of all plants, water as usual. It kills fungus gnat larvae
