Hey Guys!! I just need some quick advice please.. Today my moms reincarnated Queen of the night cactus got thrown off my desk by wind and its main largest leaf and the new leaf stem it was currently pushing out both broke.. I think for the new growing one it is probably too late and will die off, but as for the large leaf, will this cut/break that happened heal over or what do I need to do. Please. The leaf broke down the middle stem that goes up the plant and I’m really hoping it will just scab over or something and not that the whole leaf dies ): the break you see in the photo is holding itself together upright, but the plant was completely bent 90° under itself, if you bend it back you can see inside/through the leaf. It has been potted in water it’s whole life, and I’m not sure if I should leave it in the water to heal now or to transition to a potting soil mix in hopes that the growth will take off and not only be one large leaf.. Please I need hope and advice..

    If part of your cactus breaks off, it'll heal, but slowly. Breakage is considered pretty major for cacti, and your plant won't grow back looking exactly the same as it was. When dealing with breakage, you can either propagate the broken piece or reattach it. Breakage cactus will heal, but slowly. I found this online I looked it up I’m not sure if you can maybe try to propagate the piece that broke?

      It didn’t entirely break off, and this plants mother plant is about 90+ years old. If I bend the piece that bent during the fall, it goes completely flat the other way. But the leaf is still strong enough to hold itself together and upright, which leads me to believe it may just heal and continue to be a healthy leaf? I guess I’m just wondering if I should wait and see if the plant does scab over before I transfer it from water to a nutrient rich soil mix?

      If the stem wasn’t damaged on the leaf I believe it could be just fine. That’s insane! I hope it winds up pulling through from this!

      By the stem on the leaf, do you mean the bulging stem that runs through the middle of the large leaf? Or the stem leading up to the physical leaf?

      The stem leading up to the physical leaf that it’s hanging off is what I had meant

      Oh no, I’ve come back upstairs to find her like this now 😭😭😭. Do you think this will heal up or do I need to cut a leaf, will the main plant stay alive, can I keep it growing 😭😭. The severely damaged leaf is strong and doing fine, but the new one that was coming out that stem is also snapped.. can you please assist me on how I would clean/prune this up):

    Omgosh that new leaf is like massacred 😩 the other one looks like it could be saved if you support it with something and there isn’t like extremely harsh lighting I’m assuming because of the first comment I initially found online and posted here. I’m not sure about that leaf that is severely broken in several places though, 😔 I’m not the best with cacti, I am more of a fruits and vegetable lady 😭
