Two questions: 1. how often are you watering? And 2. Are you fertilizing? If so, what kind of fertilizer and how often? It looks like it could either be under watering or fertilizer burn

The app notifies me when time to water but I know that’s not always reliable so I do have a moisture meter ( 0.0 - 9.9; I believe is the range) I usually water if the number is 3.5 or below, I also use a liquid fertilizer that I dilute with water as according to the fertilizer bottle.

Did you move him recently? Maybe he’s having trouble acclimating?

No I had him at college but I moved home beginning of may, shouldn’t he have acclimated by now?

Asia above ruled out possible reasons nicely and I hear you, so I am approaching it differently here; 1. is the room well ventilated? Plants need good airflow to dry the moisture they emit through transpiration. Without good airflow(air circulators, fans, open window) the moisture cannot exit the plant leaves properly therefore, the plant becomes overwatered (regardless of your watering schedule) - and the end of the leaves burn(rot) due to extra moisture in the leaves. 2. Over fertilization. I would hold off fertilizing this plant for few months, even for half a year. Truthfully, I know you are following instructions on the bottle but it doesn't matter what the bottle says - if the water is not exiting the plant properly, the plant drowns in the soil therefore the end of the leaves burn(rot). Also like Asia mentioned above, fertilizer burn. 3. Soil is not airy enough. With all the reasons stated above, if the soil is not airy enough: no oxygen for roots to breathe - roots drown in water - the end of the leaves burn. These are some possible and reasonable cause of the tips burning. Hopefully you can rule out the problem for your plant. Good luck!

The room always has a fan on, the pot does have drainage holes in it. What do you suggest for making the soil airier? Is it as simple as taking a stick and just mixing up the soil a bit or is there something more?

When you repot, use more chunky mix. Simple solution is adding more perlite to the soil mix when repotting. 🙂 and also check the roots for a root rot when repotting.
