Any suggestions for what might be wrong with my rattlesnake plant? It has been healthy for over a year and has now developed these brown spots with some brown edges. My first thought is a fungus infection maybe rust. I completely cut off the worst leaves and trimmed the browning areas off of some others. I then treated all the remains leaves with fungicide and moved the plant back to an east facing location from its current westerly location. Any other ideas? This is one of my favorite plants and has always been healthy.

Mine starts to have brown edges when the humidity is too low. I added a small humidifier and it has helped!

My westerly window was direct but the new easterly location has a porch roof so that should help. Thanks

what type of water do you use for this plant? rain water is ideal, but if you have city water, or otherwise mineral heavy tap, it should at minimum be filtered for a healthy prayer plant. they’re very sensitive to excess minerals. after filtering i recommend adding a drop of aquarium water conditioner to dissolve the remaining chlorine/chloramines in the water. the chemicals in public water supplies are typically what causes the crispy and/or yellow spots

no problem! i hope it helps. i would suggest rinsing excess minerals out of the soil as best you can next time it needs water— pour water on top of the pot and let it drain several times

Humidity issues and not enough water or wrong water. Can’t use chlorinated or water with heavy lime. So I use bottled or filtered water for the calatheas

Nothing has worked. I repotted at Planta dr suggestion and it is still doing the same thing. I had one new good leaf so I have cut it off and placed in water to root . Maybe it won’t be a total loss.
