Okay new to this kind of beauty- keep this in mind šŸ˜… Bought this bad boy about 4 months ago, and now it’s turning yellow. Been treating for spider mites with insecticidal soap once a week, haven’t really been watering because the soil has been pretty damp. Happened to another leaf but figured it was the spider mites, so I cut it off (was a smaller leaf at the bottom) What is happening?!

I'm not sure whats happening but mine did the same thing!! I hope you can fix yours bcz i couldn't fix mine 😭 BUT i think its normal with these. One leave dies and another leaf grows.

This happened to mine as well! I took it out of the soil, cleaned the roots, and put it in a vase with only water. This stopped the leaves from doing that but no progress since :(

Alocasias are spider mite magnets. More than likely what’s causing this damage but really inspect it to ensure that’s the only pest. I hear Alocasia’s love hydroponic but haven’t personally tried it. Just keep the soil damp but not wet. I always recommend let the soil dry out 25-50%. You can use your finger or a chopstick/knitting needle to check. And when you clean the leaves keep the leaves out of direct sunlight for about a day. Then place back into a spot with bright indirect light

My Alocasia flourished once I took it out of soil. But even in leca it got spidermites.

I have learned yet another way to improve leaf health, is to add silica when watering… I believe it is supposed to help with cell health. I have seen improvement truly with pothos. 🪓
