Well, not sure what to do with this. I have my golden pothos and it was picture day for her. I wanted her to look all pretty for her monthly check up, and instead, I find these. Leaves that are brittle and look like they’re been chewed on. I didn’t see any pests whatsoever on the plant, unless someone has eagle eyes and can see what I overlooked. There are also these weird looking rock-hard nodes all over my plant on the underside of my stems. Any advice or thoughts?

The leaves looked chewed based on the jagged edges. Caterpillars can leave similar marks. Maybe it moved on. Another small possibility is low humidity causing dryness and cracking. The bumps are aerial roots. They will grow out to find and collect water. They also hold onto structure to allow the vines to climb to reach more light.

Any chance you have mouse or a cat or other little critter?

No to both. I have a dog but it’s too high up for my corgi and it’s nowhere near where a mouse would be able to get to. It sits on a plant shelf with other plants. Plus, I don’t have any evidence of mice anywhere in my house. The only possibility I’m coming up with besides like a rouge Asian lady beetle, is that it got pinched and torn between two pots. The shelf is pretty snug.

Is it pushed up against anything? Might just be a structural problem. I have my pothos hanging in my window and some of my leaves that are squished up against the window frame and/or curtain grow like that.

Honestly that might be it. It has gotten pinched between another pot and the table. I’m leaning towards damage from getting pinched and torn.

That would make sense then! Here’s what mine looks like. It’s just some of the leaves and they all still look healthy like you were saying.

chronic under watering can cause the leaves to curl so much they tear. are your pothos’ leaves curling frequently? is it really droopy when you water?

No, every other leaf feel good and healthy except like 4 in this region. The new growth uncurls nicely. There is one leaf that is brown and crusty, that looks like it may do the same thing. I included a photo. The weird thing is that the leaves that are broken still feel healthy. They are firm, waxy, hold themselves upright. It’s like they’re perfectly healthy minus their chunks missing.
