Alocasias are very dramatic— what else are your other plant parameters….Light, humidity, temperature?
2件のいいねit was on a north window but i have a grow light over it, the humidity is average room humidity (i don’t do anything about the humidity in my apartment) and the temperature might have been a bit low because my window is not well insulated

They are dramatic, need to acclimate to any moves. What I’ve been doing with all my alocasias and I swear by this method, clean off every bit of soil and stick in water. Let sit in water for about a week maybe two, then I put in a self watering planter with lechuza pon. Once planted I will water it, then not water again for 2 weeks. I don’t put water in the reservoir either for about 6 weeks. Then they take off and absolutely thrive once established. They just have to transition their soil roots to water roots. All kinds of YouTube videos on it!

Literally every plant can live in water if you change the water out every few weeks (definitely not letting it get too low)… and if you add a drop or 2 of liquid fertilizer. However I only keep a few plants in water I don’t keep my alocasias in there long, I put them in the lechuza pon. Watch some YouTube videos on it, just search putting alocasias in pon. I learned sooo much from watching like 10 videos.

Also with humidity I find they like 70% or above, so I try to stay at that with a greenhouse cabinet (great YouTube videos on setting them up), or I put a humidifier blowing on them, with a small fan for airflow. Also listen, do not mist your plants. I know this app suggests it, but if you really research it you will find it doesn’t do houseplants any good, it will cause fungus & bacteria issues… I learned the hard way. The only way to go is to use a good humidifier and fan. Since I quit misting and use them I’ve had absolutely zero issues with funguses.

Oh and you’ll most likely find corms you can grow in water or spagnhum moss
いいね 1件Someone just recently told me that all alocasias need very high humidity, like above 60%. You might want to check that? When I stopped using my humidifiers I had to rehome a few plants that couldn’t tolerate the drier air. All my calathea plants had to go. Most everything is adjusting though. I hope you figure it out! He’s cute! I love alocasias!
