Root rot????? Gave it to my sister. Left with too much water. How do I fix it?? Most of the roots are mushy and easily fall off. Treatments?? I was thinking of maybe propagating it and starting from scratch🥲

What type of plant? That’s what I would do… I’ve propped many root rot victims in water and let them grow water roots. Then I just put them in lechuza pon (or any pon available) because they’ll have water roots so makes no sense to put in soil again… plus water roots don’t usually get root rot because they can’t be overwatered easily. I love growing in semi hydro or hydro setups… I honestly hate soil. I’d love to do away with soil completely because of root rot & dry rot… and soil compaction, and fungus gnats… I hate it all lol. I do have a few plants I’m too scared to transition to semi hydro like my chenille plant, but I even have all my cacti in pon. I love using a mix of perlite, pon, & fluval stratum.

Oh yes omg pothos grow water roots sooooo quickly it’s insane. And they don’t even need lots of heat or humidity to do so. Although I always make sure my temp is above 65 (70-75 is where I like to keep it, depending on if I use my greenhouse cabinet. And I keep my humidity around 70-80 if possible but sometimes it drops to 60-65 on colder days because I run a heater. But I have a pothos thriving in semi hydro!

That looks like a scindapsus, which I have found take more time to propagate in soil or water than a pothos.
3 Likesi think it’s a satin pothos

Satin pothos may commonly be referred to as this plants name by some, but it’s not a pothos. It’s a scindapsus.

Like others have mentioned, this is not a pothos. It’s a scindapsus pictus, but commonly called “satin pothos”. I propagated mine in leca a few weeks ago and they are growing roots slowly. If you decide to propagate from the healthy leaves, you could get those nursery pots with a dome from Amazon to help increase the temperature and humidity. This will help speed up the process, but I personally haven’t tried it with scindapsus before. Good luck 🪴✨
3 Likesa way to prevent root rot before planting the plants id to always put rocks at the bottom of the pot, it works. :)
