I have a money tree. I learned on this app that I should water it once a week. Water it until you see the water draining at the bottom of the pot. I have been doing that because my leaves have been turning yellow when I was thought I was under watering it. Either way it hasn’t died but has grown huge but I want to figure out the yellowing of the plant. Any help would be great since I am really a new plant owner since dec 2023

You may be overwatering, I’ve noticed the app recommends watering more often than needed, I’ve overwatered a few because of it. I use it as a history of when I watered it and a reminder to check if it’s needed. Water when it’s mostly dry (50%-70%), I check with a wooden stick (I got a big pack for 4 bucks on Amazon) to see if the soil sticks. If it sticks it’s wet and if it doesn’t it’s dry

I only water my money tree…rarely and whenever I feel like it 🤣 sometimes she shows me by drooping her leaves but otherwise it’s a long time between watering and I NEVER saturate the soil until it drains. 🥰

Thank you! I never watered it that much when it was smaller but when I got the app like 3 weeks ago and it told me to do that I was like oh man I haven’t been watering it enough 😂

Saturating the soil is actually good for any plants, because overwatering is about how often a plant is watered, not how much, and unless the soil is really dense, it won’t cause rot.

I’m personally, Not worried about rot or overwatering. I do what my plant is happy with and that’s me leaving it alone. And my soil is dense for my money tree! 🥰 saturating soil is good for all of my other plants for sure! Chunky aroid mixes for most! lol money tree also have very shallow root systems so my massive pot would remain soaked if I drenched! And would in turn rot my baby!

Money trees prefer to be fully dry between waterings because they store water in their trunks. I like to check with a wooden skewer.

It doesn’t look overwatered. It looks scorched, sunburnt. Looks like a shadow line on the two front leaves. Consider if it was exposed to direct sun or too close to a strong grow light. 🍀🪴
