This is my second polkadot plant (absolutely murdered my last one) I have noooo idea what I’m doing wrong the pot I have it in has drainage and I only water it when the top of the soil is dry. If anyone has advice that would be greatly appreciated 😭 ( I’m very new at plants and have no idea what’s wrong)
Is that photo right after a watering? I’d guess the plant would like better draining soil…add perlite or something to help.
1 like It was about two days after watering and was still quite damp, I think it definitely needs soil with better drainage! All my local plant stores were sold out of perlite looks like an Amazon order is going to be on its way!

You picked a very attractive plant but one of the most difficult. Most people have trouble with them. The usual issue is not enough humidity. And then once you have that figured out they grow tall and leggy. Needing regular pruning to maintain their bushy shape. I keep mine in a semi enclosed terrarium type planter. And spritz it a few times a week.
This plant has been my nemesis! I'm also relatively new to plants, and this one is the one I'm ready to swear off of 🤣 I gave it well draining soil, a humidifier, its own light, and nothing would work. I need to update the status of the plant on this app because I just have 2 tiny leggy stems trying to make leaves. Sorry for the rant, but I agree with other comments, more perlite. From the photo the soil seems to be very rich. If I recall correctly this plants roots are very thin so they can be smothered easily. Some perlite can help it breath a bit more. Other than I'm in the same boat 😭
1 like Thank you for the advice! And yes it’s soo pretty when it’s doing well but this is my second one! And it’s becoming more of a headache than anything! But if it does recover I’ll be very happy 😭
