Someone please please tell me this is mold and not what I’m thinking it could be 😭. I’ve never had a pest problem before and I’m so scared of one. the soil is still damp and i watered it five days ago. It’s sits about a foot from a south east facing window where it gets partial sun all day. None of my other plants that are next to it seem to be affected.

I’d say it looks like mold to me, if you can, look at it for awhile and see if you notice any movement. But mold is also not a good thing and should be taken care of with airflow and well draining soil options

How do I treat it is it’s mold? It is in a nursery pot with plenty of drainage holes. I will try to poke some holes in the soil to allow for better air flow since I don’t have any way to replace the soil at the moment

I’d take the plant out of its pot, rinse it off with a rubbing alcohol and water mixture making sure to get any of the mold spores off. Then dump out the soil (it has spores in it and will just keep popping up mold), sterilize the pot (wash it with hot water and soap), get some soil that isn’t miracle grow, and add more drainage additives (orchid bark, perlite, vermiculite). Just vary the ratios depending on what type of plant it is and how much water retention they need

Okay. I don’t have any of the additives right now. It’s a majestic palm that I rescued from clearance at Lowe’s. I don’t use miracle grow. I use a soil for indoor plants called expert gardener that I get from Walmart

Okay, I’d probably get some additives soon for that, palms need well draining soil still, that’s good you have that soil, I’d say it’s more down to drainage and airflow. Definitely run a fan, especially if the soil is still wet after almost a week
