I have a strawberry plant that I’m having issues keeping the insects from eating the strawberries. I will get a baby strawberry and they will immediately start eating at it. Please help, I want this to be successful! What can I add into it to make them stop😂

If you can get straw, a layer of straw on top of the soil between the soil and the exposed parts of the plant can help protect berries.

What sort of insects are you having issues with?

Honestly I’m not sure, I haven’t seen any besides worms..

Worms like earthworms? If so, they’re a sign of a healthy good soil :) If there’s a snail/slug or caterpillar issue, have a look at sunset time - I find they like to come out around then to start their feasting

Try taking landscape fabric and put around the plant that way the fruit is not laying on the dirt

My strawberries are a favorite snack of the local snails. I have found using food grade DE (diatomaceous earth) powder on the soil and leaves of the plants greatly reduces the numbers that get eaten. I also recommend if it is in a container, plant it as close to the side as possible so that the berries can hang over the side instead of laying on the ground underneath the plants.

Planting a plant with a strong odor like onions, marigolds, garlic, etc will prevent pests because they don't like strong smells
