my parlor palm has some leaves that are becoming discolored. she does get direct sun for about 4-5 hours a day so I think it may just be sun burn. i’m more worried if this could be mites?? she has some little white dots but no other signs

if you are attached to this plant, treat it and keep treating! spidermites lay their eggs under the surface of the leaf so after you treat there will be at least one more re-emergence. there are several ways you can go about this, but with all these fronds this is what i would do: hose it down — the shower works — to remove what you can and spray it with neem oil (neem oil stinks, no way around it 😵‍💫) do it again in a week or so. keep your eyes peeled — and maybe treat it again in another week or so. alternatively…you can throw it away 🫢

it’s had these white dots as long as I can remember (since I got it 1.5 years ago) and hasn’t seemed to have many issues so i’ll try to treat it!! she has lots of new growth so that’s promising.

I’m new to plant keeping but I did have a gnat problem that went away when I sprayed peppermint oil into the dirt where they hung out. It seemed to work almost immediately. Again, please double check my advice. Best wishes!!

I had the same problem with mine palm and I treated her with soapy water. After that I wiped the leaves and now is recovering with new leaves and no mites. However some of the old leaves couldn’t make it 🥲

Try to isolate it from the rest and look for dense webs or tiny little red mites. Sending you lots of positive thoughts so it recovers soon!
