If the roots are rotted, the roots would be dark in color, mushy, and limp in appearance. Healthy roots are light in color and firm. If they are rotted, you can soak the plant whilst it is still in its pot as long as the pot has drainage holes, placing the plant into a container or pot larger than it and filling it with a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 2 parts water. If there is serious root rot, you will want to remove it from the soil and cut all the rotted roots, then soak the roots without the soil for 30 minutes with the same hydrogen peroxide and water mixture, then gently rinse off with water and repot back into the soil. The peroxide mixture will clean the roots after cutting them, killing any bacteria that would further the rot, and should help promote new root growth. Hope this helps!

I didn’t know this about hydrogen peroxide but that’s extremely helpful! Thanks so much ☺️

No problem! It’s a fairly common treatment for root rot and disinfecting tools. It’s also naturally occurring in rainwater, so not something toxic or very chemical for a plant

if you want a product for transplant shock as well, i highly recommend SuperThrive. it’s a rooting hormone and it’s basically just kelp
