My Chinese money plant keeps losing leafs and wont stop! I’m not sure whats wrong with it. I water it consistently when the app tells me to, but it used to be so full and now it barely has anything left :(

I only use the app as a sort of reminder incase I forget to check my plants not to tell me when to water . It’s not going to know the conditions your plants live in so it can’t really tell you exactly that it needs water. I’d go more by feel. Not sure about the plants issues but it could be over watering .
6 Mi piaceI typically use it as a guide to because sometimes it tells me to water it when it feels really damp and I don’t water it then but i’m not sure what’s happening to it.
1 mi piaceEeeks might be root rot, the soil looks a bit dense and using the app for watering is definitely going to lead to overwatering… I’d repot down to a smaller terracotta pot, get better draining soil mix/amendments, and take a good look at the root system

1 mi piaceI tried the water meters but it was inconsistent so I started to use a soil prob to make sure the soil needed water . If you don’t want to spend the money you can try the chop stick method it’s the same concept as baking a cake & sticking a toothpick in to see if it’s done .
5 Mi piaceOh wow, that looks so neat
0 Mi piaceI like it you can actually see the differences in each level for dampness . It works great for large to med plants obviously smaller are easy to monitor & these can be a bit big if you get the wrong size . I have one the I just screw 3 pieces together to use then just unscrew & pop it back into the container it came in .
1 mi piaceThat is really cool seeing each level of dirt, I’ve never thought about needing something like that or that they would even sell something like that, it totally makes sense especially for larger pots where you’re right the moisture meter wouldn’t work. I’ll definitely save that for when I have the space to add larger plants into my collection! Learn something new everyday lol
