I have the same trouble with a recent rescue of mine! I have been debating “notching” to encourage growth in the bare areas. I remember seeing a little while back on this app that someone had success with this method but I don’t remember if it was the same kind of plant. It might be worth some google research though! Hopefully someone else with more experience with these plants will chime in🤞

0 Mi piaceI watched like a 20 min youtube video on these guys. It’s ficus elastica tineke. I keep mine right in a southeast facing window with extremely well draining soil (like 30% orchid bark 30% perlite 40% potting mix and wait for it to be completely dry before rewatering and then completely soak. The variegated leaves don’t absorb light as well so it needs more sun than a normal rubber plant. Mine gets like 2/3 hours direct early morning sunlight. And don’t worry about the leaves browning bc of gettin too much sun mine has been totally fine and you’ll know. Since I made these changes 3 new leaves just getting bigger and bigger
0 Mi piaceFeel free to notch but I’d avoid cutting top. Mine was dormant for months and now is shooting up like crazy and I think these plants look so much better with a tall healthy sleek look without much branching
