Hi! I’ve had this string of pearls for about a month. It was thriving until about a week ago. I included a photo of it when I first got it. You can see it was full and happy. Now it’s almost completely died and I don’t know what to do. It looks like there might be some type of mold/fungus? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I really want to save this plant. ❤️

Looks like you repotted... it may be a combo of transplant shock and not enough sun to make it happy? Mine is in a sunny window having the time of its life and likes the soil to dry up before I water again - yours may be retaining too much moisture if the soil is getting fungus and making the roots too soggy...

If you repotted it recently, plants tend to be a little upset for a week or 2 after repotting until they adjust to the change. If there is mold in there, I’d recommend trying to let it dry out and then remove the mold asap. I’d do this by gently taking it out to totally remove & replace the soil. I’m sure this will upset it again but that’s better than leaving it with mold imo. There are also mold killer fluids you can buy. However, I haven’t personally dealt with mold before so I’d look into the best way to do it or maybe someone else on here has better experience with it. Like Josie said, you wanna make sure the soil is completely drying in between waterings to avoid mold & root rot. If the roots aren’t long enough to reach the bottom soil, it could be allowing wet soil to stay down at the bottom causing the mold. If this is the case & you don’t have a smaller pot, I highly recommend adding some rocks to the bottom, which helps a ton with drainage! Good luck! 🫶🏻

Mine has died a few times after the first time I kept a slightly closer eye on it. Whenever it started to look like it was dying pearls drooping and drying out I cut off the healthy strings and propogated them in water by the window (definitely appreciated the extra closeness to the window) since repotting in soil I’ve been watering from below and it seems a lot happier, the pearls directly on the top of the soil were getting too soggy before, from what I saw

The exact same thing happened to me, and I went to the plant shop today to ask. They told me that it’s a soil moisture problem- you’ve to water these till the pot is fully wet and then let it dry out completely. I removed the shriveled/ flaccid pearls as I found they attract tiny organisms and retained only the strings that are sturdy. As of now mine is still under observation, so I’m not fully sure but I hope this gives you some direction
