I bought a new bonsai however the app says that my room is too dark for its light requirements. Is it ok if I use a LED 132 lumen desk lamp with 3 light settings as a grow light? ( you can see it in the background on it’s dimmest setting)

I got this money tree almost two weeks ago (his name is Peeta). I noticed the other day that a couple of the leaves are looking yellowish. It’s in my room so every morning I put it on my windowsill (north facing). I believe it got too much sun but I’m not sure.

Hi everyone! I am a new house plant enthusiast and just starting out! I bought this beautiful bonsai plant today and would love to know your best tips and tricks to care appropriately for this beauty. Any blog/youtube channels you recommend? To note: it is in a plastic pot with draining holes at the bottom. It is near a window that only receives indirect sunlight (very little now due to the rainy winter here!) and the soil appears to be an airy light mix of 🤷🏻♀️ 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Thanks in advance for your recommendations🫶🏼
Just got this Ficus recently from a bonsai store, wondering what steps I can take to develop it to be much bigger and thicker. It came pruned already and I really like the structure of the tree just want to scale it up.

Looking for advice on my Sequoia Giganteum! I live in Humboldt County, which is the native area for Sequoia sempervirens (coastal redwoods). This giant sequoia (the giant redwood type found in Yosemite) has been doing well since I moved here in 2021. It’s about 10-12 years old now! Just a heads up, it isn’t a bonsai but I’m desperate for advice and this is the only group on Planta I see that might have info about conifers. With more growth it loses some small branches and has its lower branches turn brown and die off in the summer when it’s warm or under watered, but this winter it’s losing way more branches than usual! I pruned off the dead branches and used them as mulch for the tree, but I’m worried the tree will continue to lose more or too much. Any advice? FYI, We rarely get hard freezes here because of the high humidity so I don’t think frost is an issue. It gets good morning light and has new growth on most of the top tips. I transplanted the tree into this bigger pot over summer of 2023 and it grew really well after the transplant. Any input is welcomed!!
Repotted and pruned this crown of thorns for the first time ever …. It was terrifying lol excited to see what this does. It’s my first plant for experimenting with bonsai.

I just got a new Juniper Bonsai for Christmas. I was wondering if its normal for the leaves to drop during winter months?

I purchased a ginseng ficus about 6 months ago and for the most part, it’s been a happy plant. No yellowing other than a few leaves when I first got it…but I lose a lot of leaves! As you can see from the pictures it has a bald spot on the back now. But it also regularly grows new leaves. It’s in well draining soil from a local nursery, and it’s been placed in a larger pot than it came in; I wanted to give it time to go a little wild before pruning and shaping. So my questions are: is it normal for this type of bonsai to loose this many leaves? What can I do to help it? I noticed after taking pics how shamefully dusty the poor thing is, I’m definitely going to clean it up today. 😅
Got a new pot and some wiring.
My poor ficus is struggling. Its leaves are yellowing and some have brown spots. Under the leaves are faded. We keep it near an east-facing window. Does anyone have any tips on what’s going on w it or what the right conditions are for it?
I bought this bonsai from a garden centre i have no clue what it is (any ideas) maybe Chinese elm??? Anyways all it's doing is going brown and dropping leaves, whats causing it? How do i save it?! Please help!
