Unfortunately my trees have been boring lately due to a big die back from harsh heat in summer, but I'll be sure post some pics of my most recovered one soon! He's going to need a rather dramatic pruning after his branch losses and i think i might repot him to get him started on a rock

Probably a pine as long as you keep them outdoors and water them regularly they will survive and thrive. Junipers are more for intermediate growers

For an indoor bonsai, ficus benjamina is extremely good for rookies. For outdoor bonsai, japanese maples are good starters
