Also, not to spam the group but I’ve been growing my gollum jade for over a year now. I was thinking of turning him into a bonsai? Is it too late to start/ is it a bad idea? I really like this plant so I don’t want to do anything that would kill it but I also think that the bonsai version of them are really cool!
I am no bonsai expert but this is my understanding. To turn a plant like this “into a bonsai”, it is a change of substrate to akadama, and a change of pot to something more shallow and wide. I have one of my cacti in a “bonsai pot” in succulent soil and it seems to like it (shown, it has grown may “babies” over the year I’ve had it), so this is one option. Otherwise I don’t think it’s ever really too late to make a change like that. I have seen it done more with actual ficus’ (trees) rather than jades though, especially the gollum jade.
Ur a real one with responding to all my posts lol. I think I was definitely on a bonsai obsession this morning so I’m gonna leave my gollum alone and start with a ficus like you said if I decide to get into it especially since I’d want one I can keep inside. Love your cat too! I have a black one as well his names Munch

Maybe try a jade plant they look similar and easy to care for and bonsai.
0 gillningarDunno if I'm too late here. The only real thing that makes it too late to bonsai something is if the trunk/stems have become hard and woody. If you can still (gently and not extremely) bend the "trunk" then it is not too late. Lots of bonsai tree species don't get their first bonsai treatment until they're 3 years old. There are a lot of good resources on YouTube, of course. You can get a bonsai wire kit with a desparity of guages to set yourself up for awhile. The big thing I would caution you against is changing too much at once; you can trim the green, wire the tree into shape, and then leave it, let it settle. After a few months, when it's acting happy again, then you can come back and trim the roots by no more than 1/3. This is a beautiful little guy, and you could probably bonsai it well.
