I bought a new bonsai however the app says that my room is too dark for its light requirements. Is it ok if I use a LED 132 lumen desk lamp with 3 light settings as a grow light? ( you can see it in the background on it’s dimmest setting)

    I don’t have any bonsai right now, but I had one for about 3 years until it died when I moved! I went to a couple classes at my local conservatory and learned a ton about plants and bonsai but I am not an expert by any means. These are just some things that I learned that might be helpful:) I’ve learned the importance of grow lights, and my (golden gate ficus) bonsai was the first plant that taught me! A lot of bonsai require bright indirect light, but are sensitive to direct light. This means it’s helpful to find a grow light. LED bulbs in desk lamps are meant for illumination, whereas grow lights replicate sunight and the spectrum of rays it throws out. ‘Full spectrum’ grow bulbs can go in lamps you already have, or you can find grow lights that can be clipped to a table or set up nearby. There are a ton that are made for bonsai. Bright indirect light means not facing down right over the plant. For your plant, you’d probably want to have it in a pretty high humidity environment, and in a window with natural light if you can. A lot of bonsai like the high humidity, and the natural sunlight of the outdoors in the summer, and can be tricky to keep indoors if you live somewhere with cold winters. Our homes are really low humidity and that makes it difficult for a lot of plants to survive. There are a ton of YouTube videos on bonsai care and tips including pruning and watering, pot care, and more. Also Google to see where your local conservatory/ botanical gardens are, even local libraries sometimes will offer in person or virtual classes on plant care. Good luck, bonsais are so fun! âœšđŸŒ±

      I “mist” the plant every 2 days according to the app’s recommendations is this for humidity and if so how much do I spray it?
